Baking from a box isn’t ideal, but it has its plusses when you’re pressed for time—or if you’re more of a cook than a pastry connoisseur. The problem is, many store-bought baking mixes are filled with unhealthy stuff.
“Typically you’re buying a bag of refined flour, sugar, salt—all the things that make food taste good,” says Christy Brissette, RD, president of 80 Twenty Nutrition. “But from a nutrition standpoint, aren’t the greatest.”
